Questions about VegiBread? Whether you're wondering about ingredients, coeliac safety, cooking methods or delivery, we've answered our most common gluten-free bread questions below.
General VegiBread Questions
What exactly is VegiBread?
VegiBread is a single-serve, gluten-free savoury bread mix made with real vegetables and ready in minutes.
Just add water, an egg, and a splash of olive oil to the sachet, mix in a ramekin (about 11cm diameter) or a flat bottom mug, and microwave for 4 minutes. That’s it! Out comes a warm, veggie-packed slice of bread—perfect for soups, snacks, or anytime you need fresh bread fast.
It’s soft, satisfying, and made for people who want real food with real convenience.

Is VegiBread safe for Coeliacs?
Absolutely! As a Mum who has a daughter diagnosed 20 years ago, I am well versed with Coeliac Disease including knowing the importance of cross contamination. All implements and benches are thoroughly cleaned before cutting and drying vegetables and making flour blends.
All ingredients are 100% gluten free and our dehydrators, chopping boards, blenders and sifters are all dedicated gluten free as well.

Why is there limited VegiBread stock?
Our unique bread mix process takes considerable time dehydrating, conditioning, mixing and packaging. For us, it is time-intensive, but this attention to detail is what sets us apart. This means we can only make so many batches per week. Month on month we are increasing stock on hand and hope to do so continuing into the future.
Can VegiBread be frozen?
As long as you wrap well, VegiBread can be made and successfully frozen for a couple of days. To defrost, place on bench or in your lunchbox in the morning and it will be defrosted by lunchtime.
Cooking & Storing FAQs
Can you use an egg replacement?
I have tried with egg replacement powders & flax seed gels without success.
If you find an egg replacement that works please let me know.

Can you toast VegiBread?
Best way to get a slight crust on VegiBread, is to make as per normal directions then either use a sandwich maker, pop in airfryer for a few minutes or even some cheese and under the grill.

Can you cook in oven or air fryer?
No, we tried this and it was a disaster. The bread turned out hard and overcooked.
The best way to cook VegiBread in the microwave. Having said that, with some wonderful customer feedback, we have recently had success with cooking VegiBread cooked in a waffle iron and "steaming" in a frying pan. See here for directions. (A big thank you to our customers Joanne and Belinda for sharing ideas).

Can you add anything into VegiBread mix to alter the flavours?
Yes! We have added mashed banana, olives, Parmesan cheese, etc. You may need to alter the water component especially if you are adding ingredients like fresh banana, etc.
Would love to hear from you if you have made an amazing discovery!
Can I make the VegiBread mix up ahead of time?
You can make ahead, in fact I think VegiBread is better the day before eating. But I would not make it any longer than one day in advance. I make all of my market samples the day prior and customers are so surprised at how fresh the bread is.
Ingredients & Nutrition Questions
About the ingredients
We try and source as many Australian grown products as we can to dehydrated, however there are times due to seasonal growing periods we do source from overseas. This includes beetroot powder as it includes an anti-caking agent (470/551) that prevents the bread mix from clumping.
You can find more about the ingredients here.

Why are gums used in gluten-free bread?
Gluten gives traditional bread its structure, elasticity and ability to hold together. Because gluten-free bread doesn’t contain gluten, ingredients such as gums may be used to help improve texture, retain moisture and reduce crumbliness.
In gluten-free baking, gums can help create a softer texture and improve how the bread holds together during cooking.

Why does GF bread need starch?
Starches are often used in gluten-free bread to help create a lighter texture and improve structure. Without gluten, bread can become dense or dry, so starches may assist with softness, moisture retention and overall consistency.
Combined with gluten-free flours and raising agents, starches help create bread that is easier to cook and more enjoyable to eat.

Why are dehydrated vegetables used in VegiBread?
When developing VegiBread, I tried countless gluten-free flour combinations in search of a bread that was tasty, easy to make and had a texture people would genuinely enjoy. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, which led me to experiment with dehydrated vegetables.
The vegetables help contribute to the flavour, texture and overall eating experience, while also allowing VegiBread to remain pantry friendly with a longer shelf life. Dehydration removes moisture for convenience and storage, while still retaining many nutrients such as fibre and minerals.
The result is a quick, single-serve gluten-free bread mix made with real vegetables and designed to be both practical and satisfying.
